About this book

This book is the First Verses translation (काव्यानुवाद) of the epic - Shriramcharitmanas in modern Hindi, since it was originally written in Awadhi 500 years ago.

Shriramcharitmanas is the great epic - poem written in the 16th century by Goswami Tulsidas in medieval Awadhi dialect. Along with narrating the story of Lord Ram, it explains the principles of Indian philosophy and serves as a spiritual guide for leading a righteous life.

Awadhi is not a contemporary language; therefore, it is challenging to appreciate the underlying meaning of the original literary marvel. Since commentaries are written in “prose”, referring to them back and forth breaks the free flow of appreciating beautiful poetry.
