Gary Wornell, a Canadian-Finnish photographer and ceramicist, spent three years exploring Nepal's extraordinarily rich and varied handicraft traditions. He examined Buddhist statues, thangka fabrics, drums, and hand-made paper. In this nation, where modernization is occurring quickly, traditional techniques and delicate craft skills are still practiced in Kathmandu's artisan districts and elsewhere. The devastating earthquake of spring 2015 added a new undertone to the book project: it could have all vanished in an instant.
