This selection of Kabir’s poetry was put together by the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, with the assistance of Evelyn Underhill. Tagore translated the verses into English from Kshitimohan Sen’s Hindi versions. These translations were first published by Macmillan in 1915. Tagore captures an incredible cross-section of the poet’s work. Kabir ponders the search for God beyond places of worship and celebrates oneness with the universe as an act of devotion.
