Lalita, the shortened form of Lalita-ambika, means the Playful One. Her play consists of creation, sustentation and dissolution of the universe and also of the lifting of devotees from Samsara (the cycle of births and deaths). She is, therefore, the Universal Spiritual Energy, one with the Supreme Being. Sri Lalita Sahasranama is a sacred text for Hindu worshippers of the Goddess Lalita Devi, that is, the Divine Mother in the form of Shakti. This collection of the 1000 names of the Divine Mother is found in the Brahmananda Purana. With Devanagari text, transliteration, and translation into English.
