A Small Hydro-electric Scheme brought the author and her husband, a civil engineer, to Baglung in the heart of Nepal, 150 miles wes of Kathmandu and 30 Rugged miles from the nearest metalled road. They chose, however, to live in even remoter titegh, a tiny village clinging to the steep mountain slope across the valley, and inhabited by Magars of Mongolian origin. They found accommodation in a small bam currently occupied by goats, straw and numerous members of Naina Sigh's family. Ti consited of a stable below and an upper storey reached by bamoo ladder and it looked out on to Annapurna.
