The brief photographic survey included in these pages is an attempt to preserve some of the main features of the art, now falling rapidly into decay, and may in the near future serve in its pictorial capacity as a form of reference. Brown was born in Birmingham in 1872. He became principal of the Mayo School of Arts in Lahore and curator of the Lahore Museum. He retired in 1927 and became secretary and curator of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design. Brown died in 1955.
